King Charles Brocade Sock Pattern
Barbara Walker, in her infinite wisdom, tells us that this simple knit, purl pattern was in the vest worn by King Charles I of England on the day of his execution in 1649. Worked in blue silk, it is in the London Museum. Lovely in white on white, it is also effective when the purl stitches are worked in another color.
